When looking for a treatment center for either you or a loved one there are a few options to consider. Outpatient Drug Rehab is one of these options that can be overlooked by many seeking help for their addictions. Only a small number of people that find themselves addicted to drugs or alcohol find and get the treatment that they so desperately need. When faced with the financial burden, and often times embarrassment of entering into a program for addiction many just can’t find the time or get their finances together for an inpatient treatment center for their addictions.

Do Out-patient Christian programs work as well as Inpatient Christian Drug Rehabs?

Both Inpatient Christian Drug rehab and Outpatient treatment programs offer the same type of treatment. The core treatment models that are used in an inpatient setting are the same as an outpatient type of program. In fact many residential treatment programs have an attached outpatient program for just such a reason.

What is an outpatient program?

Outpatient rehab is a program that offers treatment for any drug or alcohol addiction where the attendee enrolls in treatment anywhere from 3 to 7 days a week, during the day-and then can either return home at night, or goes to a sober living facility. These programs take place in either large homes, Christian Drug rehab centers, or in a hospital setting.

How long do you attend the program?

The length of an outpatient treatment program can vary depending on the program and their philosophies as well as taking into account the addiction and individual’s specific needs. Most addicts in recovery can expect that the program will take anywhere from 1-3 months to complete: with more serious addictions it can take up to a year to finish. Outpatient programs that are long term can be rare and usually if that much time is needed to handle the addiction it is often times better to handle the addiction in an intensive inpatient setting.

What are the benefits of treatment in an outpatient setting?

When we look at entering into a program for addiction there are many factors that must be considered in order for clients to feel comfortable receiving treatment for their addictions. Being able to put life on hold while in treatment can be very unrealistic for some.  Having an option for treatment that does less disruption in daily routines can benefit those who can not drop all responsibilities and enter into an inpatient Christian Drug Rehab.

* Being able to continue a career or work scheduled can be the difference between getting help and not. Even though the programs do not offer large amounts of time for social and work activities there are programs that will work around your schedule through day or night treatment. This will help the individual maintain a presence at work during treatment. For those who can set their own hours or operate their own business this type of treatment is ideal.

* Attending your own church while working a treatment program is one of the best benefits for outpatient treatment for addiction. Often times we have a connection to our church, pastor, and it’s members, that can offer advice and support that you would not normally  receive in an inpatient setting. Having support is beneficial to long lasting recovery and can often times be the difference between relapse and abstinence.

When is outpatient treatment not ideal as a treatment option?

When deciding on entering a Christian outpatient treatment program we need to look at the history of the addiction that is at the forefront of the problem, in order  to make an informed decision as to weather or not outpatient treatment is the right solution to handle the addiction problem.
These concerns are not limited to the list provided but they are listed as a general guide to help with the decision of weather or not there is a need for inpatient treatment.
*Chronic relapses
*Previous treatment attempts
* Environment not ideal for abstinence
* Home life is not supportive
* Proximity to drugs and alcohol
* Lack of motivation
* Wanting to keep you addiction a secret

Out patient is not for everyone and it can work for those who apply the principles taught and have the right motivation to overcome this addiction. These types of programs are specifically designed to make it convenient to enter into a treatment program for addiction without to much disruption in daily routines and work habits. The relapse rate of stand alone outpatient treatment for addictions is 4 times higher than their inpatient counterparts. Making the decision to enter into a program that is inpatient is always the better choice for those seeking treatment for addiction. A change in environment and taking away the temptations to find drugs or take just one more drink can be a hard situation to confront while at home during treatment.

Christian Drug Rehabilitation Staff encourages everyone thinking of entering an Outpatient Drug Rehab to first give us a call and discuss your options before you make a decision that could have long lasting repercussions. Our counselors will explain the difference between the two treatment types and help you make an informed decision as to what would work out best for primary treatment.
