When an addict is in denial about their addiction often times an intervention is the only way to get them the help that they need.

When family members or friends become addicted to drugs or alcohol, trying to get that person the help they need is very important and in some cases a life saving action. In some cases the person being affected by addiction has a willingness to get help, due to them being able to see what the addiction is doing to themselves and their family and friends.  When the addict is not seeing that there is a problem, an intervention is usually the only answer to get them the help that they need.

Give us a call now, and we can help you find a faith based intervention team to help you and your family overcome addiction together. This is a free service and we are here 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

  • What is an alcohol or Drug intervention?
When Family and friends get together to meet with an intervention specialist to discuss how to get help for the person that is addicted to drugs or alcohol. The first meeting plans are laid out  for the addict to check into a treatment center after the intervention is completed. All the necessary arrangements are made, transportation to the Christian treatment facility, all paperwork is handled to get the addict into treatment once the intervention has taken place.  A time and location is set up to hold the actual intervention. When it is time for the actual intervention, the Christian Intervention Specialist meets with the family and friends of the addict, for Pre-Intervention Training.

When the intervention is held, the addict enters the room and is surprised. The people that are participating in the intervention process take the time to share how the addiction has not only changed the addicts life and behaviors, but also affected their lives as well, in a negative way. Often times, this is enough to get help for the person affected by the addiction. When this is not enough, the intervention steps up the plan and ultimatums are given to make it clear to the addict, that he or she will lose all help and support from the people in to room, if treatment isn’t accepted. If they agree to treatment, the addict is escorted to the treatment center by the intervention specialist.

  • How is a Christian Intervention different?
A Christian Intervention is not very different from a regular intervention. Differences being, that sometimes a pastor or member of the church is included in the intervention. All interventions are done with love, understanding and the hope that the addict will get the help they so desperately need.

Psalms 50:15
“and call upon me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you will honor me.”

1 Corinthians 13:4-8
“Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends. As for prophecies, they will pass away; as for tongues, they will cease; as for knowledge, it will pass away.”

At the intervention it is very important to let the addict know that they are loved and not being judged for their drug or alcohol abuse. They need to understand that their addiction is just a bump in the road and once they recover there can be love, life and happiness once again.

During and after the intervention takes place, you need to be understanding and a calming influence that shows the true spirit of Christ and His healing powers. You need to be a light to those who have lost their way and an example for them to follow.  Always remember that the addict is lost in a sea of addiction and the intervention is the life boat taking them to safety.
